About the Santa Fe '1962 - As Delivered'
The Santa Fe only received two of the 4948 cu.ft. covered hoppers from Magor and were assigned to class GA-126. During the years, the black lettering either reacted with the aluminum body or faded in a weird way and became a shade of orange. Later the cars were repainted in mineral brown with white lettering. Both cars were assigned to Carlsbad potash service for most of their life according to Charles Slater.
