About the TLDX - Carborundum '1968 Repaints' Paint Scheme:
This group of 10 PS-2CD 4427 Covered Hoppers were originally delivered to Bartlett & Co. but were returned and then leased to Carborundum Company in 1968. Unlike the original group of 15 cars, these were given the attractive Carborundum company logo. The Carborundum Company was an abrasives manufacturer and had plants located in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, & Ontario. The cars have a return stencil location of Vancouver, WA where they would be loaded with silicon carbide, also known as carborundum. They would then travel east to their various plants.
