ExactRail HO Scale: PC&F Beer Car - Manufacturers Railway Co. 1980 'As-Delivered'
Arriving fresh!
Beginning in 1977, Pacific Car and Foundry (PC&F) released a heavily insulated boxcar with internal, air-bag loading devices and 20" travel, sliding-sill under frame. These cars travel the country. Often originating from the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO., they are affectionately known as "Beer Cars" for the refreshing cargo they frequently carry.
About the Manufacturers Railway Co. 1980 'As-Delivered' Paint Scheme:
Manufacturers Railway Co. was owned by Anheuser-Busch and their fleet of insulated boxcars were used to ship beer from their St. Louis MO. brewery to distributors across the country. Purchased in 1980, this fleet of Pacific Car & Foundry (PC&F) built cars wore an attractive gray, red and black scheme that was very modern and striking. The MRS rostered 250 of these cars and they were numbered from 2500 to 2749. A portion of the fleet was sold to Tropicana in 1991 and the rest were patched with MCWX reporting marks after Anheuser-Busch shut down the MRS in 2011. The patched cars can be seen on the rails today. Our model makes a near match to the prototype and would be right at home delivering tasty adult beverages on your layout.
